ClancyWorks Dance Company
Adrienne Clancy’s choreography is not only kinetically charged and emotionally driven, but also visually stimulating and politically empowering, “an endless pas de deux, trois, quatre, cinq and six conjured up in mists and shadows by [a] wizard of invention” (The Washington Post). Clancy’s use of dynamic partnering creates a metaphor for the building of an environment where women lift men with a similar strength and ease. She presents an accumulation of empowering images with which an audience comprised of an array of ages, races and classes can feel at ease. March 13 at 8 p.m., March 14 at 4 p.m..

CityDance Ensemble: New Voices

Guests Rasta Thomas and Jason Hartley
The Company brings the work of some of the finest young choreographers to the Terrace Theater. The Washington Ballet's Jason Hartley, Karen J. Reedy of the Mark Morris Dance Group and 2003 MetroDC Dance Award-winner Ludovic Jolivet have crafted exciting, intriguing and thought-provoking dances which are sure to inspire audiences. They join Vladimir Angelov, Artistic Director Paul Gordon Emerson, Jane Dudley and Adrain Bolton as the choreographers of New Voices.
Also on the bill is the company premiere of Jane Dudley's 1938 "Harmonica Breakdown." The most recent addition to the CityDance Legacy Series, "Harmonica Breakdown" is a seminal work in modern dance and a rare treat for dance audiences.
